Dear RE|dance Friends and Family,
We hope that as the snow melts here in Chicago you are all someplace warm and safe as we enter into another new year. RE|dance group was grateful for an action-packed 2021 that included 7 different outdoor park concerts, 2 festivals, a shared annual concert season that was live and indoors and continuing virtual and live class offerings to our many supporters and dance community members.
We recognize that the past two years have not been as lucrative for many arts organizations and we want to thank all of you for sticking by us. We continue to reimagine, reinvent and redefine who we are and what we do as a dance theatre company and your trust and interest in us truly keeps us moving! We started 2022 with a lot of self-reflection and planning and we are excited for new opportunities to create and share our work in Chicago and the US:
*Lucy is traveling to Richmond, VA to perform her solo, "Wanting, Reaching, Searching" at the YES Dance Festival in early March and we're excited for Michael to begin a new process with us later that month.
*We continue to develop "Tiny Memories," a dance theatre work we made in collaboration with Leah Urzendowski last summer, and will be presenting that in several Chicago dance festivals throughout the Spring.
*In June we look forward to participating in Chicago Dance Month and beginning rehearsals for "The Biggest Wail from the Bottom of My Heart." This 2019 work will be back this year at the Minnesota Fringe Festival with other pop up perfromances in several Wisconsin cities.
*Lastly, we are planning our Fall annual season with Satellite Dance from Nashville, TN. We are excited for this partnership as we grow our presence throughout the States and bring artists back to Chicago to share their work with us.
We want to thank you once again for all the support you have given us over the last 12 years! Your presence at our shows, on our online fundraising and in our classes sustains our small arts organization. We are also grateful for the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation and the Illinois Arts Council for providing funding for our general operating costs; grants that are integral in supporting Melanie, Stacy, Erika, Corinne, Zach, Danielle, and Anthony—our amaizng dancers and collaborators. We hope to see you in a theatre or dance class in 2022! Thank you for being such loyal dance fans, especially over the last two years.
We love and appreciate you so very much!
Lucy and Michael
