2020 Summer Virtual Workshops

Summer Site-Specifics Virtual Workshop

Monday-Wednesday | August 3-5, 2020

This virtual workshop, designed for high school dancers at all levels, will explore dancing in non-traditional spaces. We will make short dance films inspired by phrase work introduced in class by RE|dance group company members and by responding specifically to the dancer’s selected site-specific location.

 

Daily Schedule:

10:00am               Check Ins and Intros

10:15-11:15am     Technique class with Lucy Vurusic Riner and company

11:15-12:15pm     Choreographic discussion, examples,and creation time

                              in breakout rooms

12:15-12:30pm     Share material, receive evening assignment, and wrap-up.

 

*As part of the creative process, students will receive evening assignments on Monday and Tuesday in order to develop a deeper relationship to their selected site-specific location. Assignments should take no longer than 30 to 45 minutes to complete and video recordings should be emailed each evening.

Creating Attic Rooms Virtual Workshop

Monday-Wednesday | August 10-12, 2020

This virtual workshop, designed for high school dancers at all levels, will explore the creative process used to develop RE|dance group’s celebrated work, The Attic Room. Participants will create personalized solos investigating themes of memory, isolation, and escape. Solos will be filmed and edited into a screendance to be premiered during RE|dance group’s 2021 performance season. *Students will receive complimentary tickets to the performance.
