What Brings Me To This Place, in its essence, is a coming of age research project. It is the opportunity to go back in time and understand what my initial inclinations towards moving were. It explores my age and sexuality as a dancer in my 40’s as I reconnect to free form trance dancing as a way to develop a new movement vocabulary for myself that stems from this meditative trance state. The production of this work will allow me to translate the primal parts of this communal dance practice into an experience that draws audience members into the moment.
